In the 20 years since our entrepreneurial beginnings as an upstart steakhouse concept, Outback Steakhouse, Inc. has become nearly 1,000 restaurants strong, with locations in 22 international markets including Canada, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia.
No other casual-themed restaurant has a menu as uniquely positioned and as tightly focused on quality as ours. From our unbeatable grilled steaks and seafood, you’ll find our fresh ingredients treated with homemade care. Even our appetizers are something special — like our Kookaburra Wings™ and Coconut Shrimp — which we cook to order, hot and irresistible. Outback franchise update
Our newest expansion strategy to enter the Russian market seeks to capitalize on an already promising track record, as recent as 2009, for success realized in Middle Eastern countries and Africa.
The award of the Franchises for the UAE to the Global Flavors Group, and Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to the Hospitality Concepts Group, represents an important milestone toward our entry into the Middle East, where we have engaged in further recruitment for Kuwait, Qatar, and Turkey.
We have also signed with the Megafood Group in Egypt, North Africa, and with the Dorney Company in the Dominican Republic, which brings our international standing to 23 countries and one territory worldwide and market openings are expected for all four markets in the July-to-September period of this year.
Negotiations are also under way with highly qualified franchise candidates in eastern Canada and Mexico. In addition to our engagement with International Franchising Group to expand into Russia and the Ukraine, the locations of China, Vietnam, and Central America have been identified as well, and serious discussions are in progress at this time.
Brazil and South Korea lead our growth in the number of restaurants (25 and 100 respectively) pointing to opportunities in neighboring countries where much of our new prospect search activities will be focused for the balance of 2009.
