Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a "stylist" to be a Beaners franchisee?
Of course not, but if you are … great! We have designed our system to help you operate a children's hair salon without the need to have a background in the hair industry.
However, you will need strong organizations skills, good communication skills, and the ability to inspire staff. You'll also need strong marketing skills, which will enable you to effectively promote your Beaners salon. Part of our responsibility will be to educate you in every aspect of this business, from marketing, general bookkeeping and inventory control, to staffing, and day-to-day operations.
How is Beaners different from a "regular" hair salon?
Our differences are many. The main one is that we specialize in kids. We have the right mix to make each child and parent feel welcome – from our friendly staff, to our great cuts, to the little extras that make the whole experience memorable.
Coming into Beaners is more than just a haircut … it's an experience!
How do I choose a location?
Our salons can prove to be successful in neighborhood strip malls where there is a lot of traffic, and in larger shopping centers. Since Beaners makes kids' haircuts affordable, we are not restricted to a specific income community. With only 800-1,000 square feet required to set up a typical Beaners salon, we have flexibility. Depending on the layout, a Beaners salon will accommodate up to five rides and two adult styling chairs, with ample room for a ballroom. Whatever location you decide on, you can count on a bright, lively interior that will be a favorite for kids and parents alike.
What type of support will I receive?
Teamwork is a word that filters through our system. We, at the franchising office, are here to help you succeed. Starting with our two-week training program, our assistance with site selection and lease negotiations, to providing you with a turn-key salon – we are there for you! Once you are in your Beaners salon, that support does not cease. We are always available to answer questions, give advice or just listen. We love to hear new ideas from our franchisees and continually work to make Beaners a fun place to do business!
A message from one of our franchisees
"I started with Beaners in Oct. '91 as a stylist, thinking I would give working with children a try. It is now 2004! I love working with kids, it is fun, challenging, and so much more. I still have an adult clientele so I am able to do colors, perms and trendy styles. I feel that I have the best of both worlds. In Dec. '99 I bought the Bow Trail locations thinking if I love this so much why not invest in a store of my own. That was the best thing I could have ever done! I love being an owner even more … the staff, the environment ? and I can be my own boss. Debbie and Celeste are very good to work with. They are always there for me in any situation I have. Thanks to Debbie and Celeste for working very hard to maintain and build this company to the best of their ability."

We follow with a Grand Opening package that is sure to get your Beaners salon well on its way. We also provide an Operations Manual, Employee Manual, and online advertising material, along with dedication and support, to help you develop your business.
Site selection:
We will assist you in selecting a site for your Beaners salon by providing you with the guidelines for analyzing your market and determining the suitability of a site. We follow through by providing lease negotiations with the landlord. The whole process for you is worry-free as Beaners provides a complete turnkey store. Marketing:

Our key ingredient in promotion is our customers. With our training and guidance, your "little advertisements" will be walking out your doors and down to the malls, playing in parks and chatting at school. Parents and kids alike notice great hair and with Beaners trendy cuts and styles, people will be stopping and asking: "Where did you get your child's hair cut?" And when asked, our Beaners parents are always proud to say "Beaners Fun Cuts for Kids!"

My message for you
A word from our president
I knew that I wanted to be in business for myself but doing what? I had been looking at different businesses for about four years and nothing really tweaked my interest. I knew I wanted to do something … but what could I do? I was a mom who wanted the best of both worlds, to be home for my children but to do something for me.Then came the day for the much anticipated "first" haircut. So off we went to a trendy adult salon. The stylist had no patience with my 2-year-old son and his wiggling about didn't help matters. The haircut was terrible, choppy and uneven, and the stylist blamed my son because he wiggled too much. I was charged $25and upon leaving we were given a look that let us know we weren't welcome back. After sharing my experience with a friend, she told me about Beaners.
When it was time for Tyler's next haircut we went to Beaners. From the moment I walked into the Beaners Fun Cuts for Kids on Heritage Drive I loved it! It was busy, noisy, kids were running all over the place and everyone was having a great time! The stylists were friendly, patient and did a great haircut! By the time we left the salon I knew that's what I wanted to do. My husband kept encouraging me to phone the owner and see if it was for sale. Finally, when I did make the call, to my surprise, the store was for sale and the rest is history.
After several months of working on my own with Beaners, I was having lunch with my cousin, Celeste, telling her my visions, dreams and how I needed help. She said, "Hey, I think you need me." I was shocked and delighted at the same time. Celeste and I are so different. I'm a visionary and she's reality. She loves numbers, projections, margins … but as different as we are – we both have the same heartbeat! So now, both of us run Beaners Enterprises Ltd., and we have a great time doing it!
Together we invite you to learn about us and our team … and how we can make your dream of business ownership and doing something for you a reality …
Sincerely,
Debbie and Celeste
